For the 70th anniversary of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC), the Ariana Museum is devoting three exhibitions to it: one to its members and two to its history. A fourth exhibition organised by the IAC will take place at the prestigious Palais des Nations of the UN. At the same time, the swissceramics association is organising a national exhibition in two locations, the Ch\u00e2teau de Nyon and the Mus\u00e9e d’art et d’histoire de Neuch\u00e2tel, thus presenting an image of the current Swiss ceramics scene.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Through the transfer of know-how, transhumance and multiculturalism, clay brings people together and breaks down borders. Footprints in the sand, bundles, doner kebabs, chrysalises, funeral boats or porcelain huts: the exhibition of IAC members immerses us into the heart of unusual journeys, life trajectories and intercultural exchanges.<\/p>\n

CONNECTIONS: 50 YEARS OF DONATIONS<\/p>\n

From the 1960s to the present day, the Ariana Museum, the cradle of the IAC, has received nearly 600 donations from member artists. Vessels, sculptures, installations from all over the world and selected works assemble a ceramic cartography from craftsmanship and formal freedom to tradition and innovation.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

AROUND THE WORLD ON A PLATE<\/p>\n

Curators: Anja Seiler, Jacques Kaufmann, with the support of the UN Women’s Guild and Victoria Dzodziev, Director D10Art Space and co-curator of the exhibition<\/p>\n

As a tribute to its founding in the immediate post-war period and in response to its primary mission, the IAC is organising, with the help of the UN Women’s Guild, an exhibition at the Palais de Nations on the theme “Around the World on a Plate”. The plate, as a cultural space, is a ceramic archetype that brings communities together around a table. Etymologically derived from “seat”, the plate is a nod to the “seats” of the Nations, when they are gathered at the UN General Assemblies. The plate has always been used for more than just sharing a meal. Its shape and format, which may remind us of a “table medal”, may also refer to a medium of communication and cultural identity, allowing a message to be passed on and a story to be told.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

The Museum of Art and History of Neuch\u00e2tel (MahN) is joining forces with the Ch\u00e2teau de Nyon to host the national ceramics exhibition organised by swissceramics on two sites. This exhibition is the result of a competition on the general theme of the Congress, Melting Pot. 24 artists were selected by an international jury and their works divided between the two museums: it thus presents an image of the excellence of the contemporary Swiss ceramic scene.<\/p>\n

Pour les 70 ans de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie Internationale de la C\u00e9ramique (AIC), le Mus\u00e9e Ariana lui consacre trois expositions: une \u00e0 ses membres et deux \u00e0 son histoire. UN TOUR DU MONDE PAR L'ASSIETTE<\/p>\r\n

En hommage \u00e0 sa fondation dans l\u2019imm\u00e9diat apr\u00e8s-guerre et pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 sa mission principale, l'AIC organise avec l\u2019aide de la UN Women's Guild une exposition au Palais de Nations sur le th\u00e8me \u00abUn tour du monde par l\u2019 assiette\u00bb. L\u2019assiette, comme espace culturel, est un arch\u00e9type c\u00e9ramique qui rassemble des communaut\u00e9s autour d'une table. Etymologiquement d\u00e9riv\u00e9 de \u00ab si\u00e8ge \u00bb, l\u2019assiette est un clin d\u2019oeil aux \u00ab si\u00e8ges \u00bb des Nations, lorsqu\u2019elles sont r\u00e9unies lors des Assembl\u00e9es G\u00e9n\u00e9rales \u00e0 l'ONU. Depuis toujours, l\u2019assiette n\u2019a pas comme seule fonction de partager un repas. Sa forme et son format qui peuvent faire penser \u00e0 une \u00ab m\u00e9daille de table \u00bb, peuvent \u00e9galement faire r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 un support de communication et d\u2019identit\u00e9 culturelle, permettant de faire passer un message, de raconter une histoire.<\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n

Le Mus\u00e9e d'art et d'histoire de Neuch\u00e2tel (MahN) s\u2019associe au Ch\u00e2teau de Nyon pour accueillir, sur deux sites, l\u2019exposition nationale de c\u00e9ramique organis\u00e9e par swissceramics. Cette exposition est le fruit d\u2019un concours sur le th\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ral du Congr\u00e8s, Melting Pot. 24 artistes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s par un jury international et leurs \u0153uvres r\u00e9parties entre les deux mus\u00e9es : elle pr\u00e9sente ainsi une image de l'excellence de la sc\u00e8ne c\u00e9ramique suisse contemporaine.<\/p>\r\n

LA VUELTA AL MUNDO EN UN PLATO<\/p>\r\n

Como homenaje a su fundaci\u00f3n en la inmediata posguerra y en respuesta a su misi\u00f3n principal, el AIC est\u00e1 organizando, con la ayuda de la ONU Women's Guild, una exposici\u00f3n en el Palais de Nations sobre el tema \u201cLa vuelta al mundo en un plato\". El plato, como espacio cultural, es un arquetipo cer\u00e1mico que re\u00fane a las comunidades en torno a una mesa. Etimol\u00f3gicamente derivado de \u201casiento\u201d, el plato es un gui\u00f1o a los \u201casientos\u201d de las Naciones, cuando se re\u00fanen en las Asambleas Generales de la ONU. El plato siempre se ha utilizado para algo m\u00e1s que compartir una comida. Su forma y formato, que puede recordarnos a una \u201cmedalla de mesa\u201d, tambi\u00e9n puede hacer referencia a un medio de comunicaci\u00f3n e identidad cultural, que permite transmitir un mensaje y contar una historia.<\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n

For the 70th anniversary of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC), the Ariana Museum is devoting three exhibitions to it: one to its members and two to its history. A fourth exhibition organised by the IAC will take place at the prestigious Palais des Nations of the UN. As a tribute to its founding in the immediate post-war period and in response to its primary mission, the IAC is organising, with the help of the UN Women's Guild, an exhibition at the Palais de Nations on the theme \"Around the World on a Plate\". The plate, as a cultural space, is a ceramic archetype that brings communities together around a table. Etymologically derived from \"seat\", the plate is a nod to the \"seats\" of the Nations, when they are gathered at the UN General Assemblies. The plate has always been used for more than just sharing a meal. Its shape and format, which may remind us of a \"table medal\", may also refer to a medium of communication and cultural identity, allowing a message to be passed on and a story to be told.<\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n

MELTING POT: swissceramics national exhibition<\/p>\r\n

The Museum of Art and History of Neuch\u00e2tel (MahN) is joining forces with the Ch\u00e2teau de Nyon to host the national ceramics exhibition organised by swissceramics on two sites. This exhibition is the result of a competition on the general theme of the Congress, Melting Pot. 24 artists were selected by an international jury and their works divided between the two museums: it thus presents an image of the excellence of the contemporary Swiss ceramic scene.<\/p>\r\n

Featuring the artwork of Val\u00e9rie Alonso, Arnold Annen, Jo\u00eblle Bellenot, Marie Bornet Lanz, L\u00e9andre Burkhard, S\u00e9verine Emery-Jaquier, Violette Fassbaender, Lynn Frydman Kuhn, Estelle Gassmann, Magdalena Gerber, Laure Gonthier, Nathalie Heid, Felix Hug, Timoth\u00e9e Maire, Aline Morvan, Kathi M\u00fcller-B, Agathe Na\u00efto, Mich\u00e8le Rochat, Fran\u00e7ois R\u00fcegg, S\u00e9bastien Schnyder, Heike Schildhauer and Melissa Fahrni, Andrea Stebler, Eva Vogelsang, Claudia von Boch and ho\u00ef-Keramik.<\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n
